I’m blessed with big skies on a daily basis. It’s great for practicing cloud painting even when the world is grey.
In this exercise, hoping for depth, I went for the dramatic with partial success. There’s a couple of clouds I like here, and distance was created using smaller ones on the horizon bunched close together.
Once again little to no correction was attempted. These are only sketches and the goal was to preserve freshness.
Knowing there’ll be no edits demands that eye and brush work together to lay down the paint with accuracy. The imperfections left behind are great teachers.
But having said all that, I’m still working in my moleskin and should try something larger soon. Big paper big mistakes? Maybe.
