Waves practice

Wave practice  8.5×11 wc 140lb Canson cp

Still learning to paint waves. I’m not quite seeing them right.  Once I realized I didn’t get the wave right on this one, I didn’t want to put the effort into the rest of the painting.  It’s good to reflect on what doesn’t work as well as what does –  part of the process even if it doesn’t seem like progress.    Back to the drawing pad!

  1. Water is hard! Have you tried wet in wet, at least for the first layer? Harder to control keeping your whites and edges but it might give you more of an essence of water. Keep at it because it is a worthy subject 🙂

      1. I attended one of Poppy’s workshops last year. There’s a post on it somewhere in an earlier blog of mine. She is a fantastic artist. She makes it look easy and stresses doing a value painting before starting. I hope to take more courses from her. Thanks for the link I’ll check it out. 🙂
